PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Alzheimer's disease is a major health problem and the leading cause of dementia in the Americas, Europe and the Mediterranean countries.  Although dementia studies in the Middle East are few, there is evidence that Alzheimer's disease may have high prevalence among the peoples of the Middle East.  The progressive aging of the population of the Middle East makes this an issue worth attention.  This conference will serve to focus attention on neurodegenerative disorders of the aged in the Middle East and to raise scientific, medical and social awareness concerning these disorders.
