GETTING THERE

By air
Switzerland has two international airports. Most airlines connect to Zurich/Kloten International Airport, which is located approximately 230 kilometers from Lausanne. Geneva International Airport is conveniently located at a distance of 60 kilometers (40 mi) from Lausanne. Both airports have direct train connections to Lausanne.

By train
Lausanne is located on the main backbone of the Swiss Railways. Trains are on time, and connect Lausanne to any location practically every 30 minutes. Convenient connections to Germany and Italy, as well as direct bullet-train connection to France are available.

Trains (www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm) run from Geneva to Lausanne every 20 minutes and the trip takes about 45 minutes. The Airport railway station is located 300 metres (about 300 yards) from the departure/arrival levels.

By Car
Lausanne is connected to the Swiss highway network and can be accessed from all surrounding countries. From Geneva, take the N1.  The trip will be approximately 40 minutes.

By Boat
Between late May and late September, a lake steamer cruises several times a day in both directions between Geneva and Saint-Gingolph, Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux, and Nyon. Sailing time from Geneva is about 3 1/2 hours. Round-trip transit from Geneva costs 75CHF in first class and 55CHF in second class, with 50% discounts for children 16 and under. Students benefit from a 50% discount on presentation of their student identity card.  See below for company info.
