WOMEN IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT

The session will outline the presence of women in sports management with respect to select national and international contexts. Some tools and suggested actions for promoting women in leadership positions at the management level in sports are also presented. Additional initiatives as well as specific case studies will be analyzed and discussed.

SUPERMAN-AGERS OF MEGA EVENTS AND FACILITIES

With more mega events, mega facilities and mega industries, the need for superman-agers is becoming a sine qua non of success.  The panel will present case studies of such mega events along with challenges, contingencies and actual outcomes within the context of managing large human resources and venues.  Additional topics will include protocol and "backstage" operations.

MEGA-BITES OF SPORTS' FUTURE

With a focus on current and cutting edge solutions employed by two international federations, a national Olympic committee, a national sport association and several sports events, the panel will present Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) tools and will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities within individual sports as well as across all sports. 

Ingo Thomann will lecture on "Association Management Meets Web 2.0,"  Christian Michels will speak on the "FIFA Data Standards for Football Management Systems," Jean Pierre Martens will address the issues around the community environment for the NOC's own members (the national sports federations), Wolfram Klug will speak about improving technology standards and communication within FIBA's five continental offices and 213 national federations, and Carsten Florstedt will address "IT Trends for Sport Events" including an overview of the iPad/iPhone Applications, the Social web 2.0 with speed ticket selling, etc.
